Lake Toba is located in North Sumatra province. Lake Toba is the largest lake in Indonesia. Toba lake region wide reached 3658 km2 of water surface area of ​​1103 km2 surface area plus Samosir island in the middle of Lake Toba of 647 km2 and Padafur a smaller island with an area of ​​7 km2.

Because of the extent, then the lake toba included in the seven districts namely, District Simalungun, Samosir regency, Dairi, Toba Samosir regency, district Humbanghasudutan,Asahan and Karo district. Lake Toba is a giant caldera, or crater of an ancient flooded. Toba lake water level is at a height of 899 m above sea level. Lake Toba surrounded by mountains and hills with a height of up to 900 m to 2000 m above sea level, or 1m up to 1100 m from the surface of the lake water.

Being situated in the highlands, the weather in the area of ​​Lake Toba pretty cool. The hills around the Lake Toba many of the forests until further add to the beauty of Lake Toba.
