WONDERFUL CRATER IJEN

Ijen Crater is located on the border of Banyuwangi district and district Sitbondo. Precisely in the Subdistrict Licin, Banyuwangi district and sub-district of  Sempol, district Bondowoso. Ijen Crater is located on the west side of the peak of mount Merapi east of Java. Mount Merapi has an altitude of 2787 m while the Ijen crater lake water level is located at an altitude of 2148 m. Lips caldera Ijen crater lies at an altitude ranging from 2160 m to 2386 m. Temperatures around the crater of Ijen pretty cool about 10 degrees. In fact, sometimes reaching 2 degrees.

Kawah Ijen has a very beautiful view, because there is a lake in the crater of bluish green. It is said that the Ijen crater lake is a biggest crater lake in the world with a size of about 960 mx 600 m. How to get there
To reach Ijen crater can be reached from the city of Banyuwangi Bondowoso or (see map below). From Bondowoso journey towards the city in Wonosari Situbondo then turn right past the Sukosari, Sempol up Paltuding. Paltuding located at an altitude of 1882 m is the last post that can pass a vehicle. The next trip to the Ijen crater rim can only be done on foot a distance of about 2.3 miles and climb about 220 m that can be taken approximately 1 to 2 hours.

Path climb to the crater of Ijen begins from a height of about 1874 m above sea level.
