SEMERU, HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN JAVA ISLAND

Mount Semeru is the highest mountain on the island of Java. Mount Semeru height 3676 m and is often called mountain Mahameru. Mount Semeru is located on the border of Lumajang and Malang District, East Java province.

Mount Semeru is part of the National Park area of Mount Bromo - Semeru. Although it is a national park and is a favorite tourist destination, but actually both of this mountain is an active volcano that erupted and often dangerous. Mount Semeru is a very active mountain. Nearly every 5 to 30 minutes from the crater of Mount Semeru eruption accompanied by bursts of hot smoke, and other materials such as dust and gravel, but the eruption is usually not too big and dangerous.

Path to climb Mount Semeru usually via Tumpang (610 m asl). Tumpang can be reached from the city of Malang city using public transportation. From Tumpang to the last village, the village of Ranu Pani (2120 m above sea level) can be achieved by using a hardtop vehicle or truck that can be rented or paid individuals together with residents Ranupani, but had to wait until a full charge.
