MANINJAU LAKE, WEST SUMATRA

Maninjau Lake is located in the district of Tanjung Raya, Agam regency, West Sumatra province. Maninjau Lake is the second largest lake in the province of West Sumatra after the lake Singkarak.

Maninjau lake width of about 99.5 km2 with an average length of about 15.5 km and 5 km wide. Maninjau lake is located at an altitude of 462 m above sea level, it makes the air around the lake was cool and fresh. Surrounded by the hills of the mountains Bukit Barisan, making scenery around Lake Maninjau be very beautiful.

Besides its use as a tourist attraction Maninjau also be used for fish farming. Maninjau is a source of water to the river named Batang Sri Antokan. In one part of the lake which is upstream of the Batang Sri Antokan there Maninjau hydropower. The highest peak in the hills around Lake Maninjau known as Puncak Lawang with a height of 1200m. Maninjau Lake is located about 140 kilometers north of Padang, the capital of West Sumatra, 36 kilometers from Bukittinggi, 27 kilometers from Lubuk Basung, Agam regency capital. To achieve Maninjau if from Bukittinggi it will pass a winding road known as Curved 44 along approximately 10 km from Ambun Pagi to Maninjau. Another of these Padang is through Pariaman-Lubuk Basung-Maninjau. The road to Lake Maninjau fairly good. Around the lake Maninjau widely available both star and budget hotels, as well as home stay.
