Soharto Hill Forest Park is located in the district of Kutai Kartanegara and a small part in the regency, East Kalimantan province. This forest is accessible by road that cuts the region namely Balikpapan-Samarinda highway, about 1.5 hours from Samarinda or 45 minutes from Balikpapan.
Forest Park is quite broad grand approximately 62,000 hectares. This forest is a mixture of lowland forest, beach forest, bush and reed.
In 1982 this forest have a major fire, and fire haven almost every dry season after the fire. So plant in Bukit Soeharto forest is a mixture of plant rehabilitation of vegetation by fire and original forest.
Plant rehabilitation include Acacia, Mahogany, Sengon. While original plants such as Meranti, Ulin, etc..
Animal in the Soeharto hill forests are, orang utan, long-tailed macaques, sun bears, clouded leopards, wild boar etc.
