Tondano Lake is located in the district of Minahasa, North Sulawesi province. Tondano Lake is the largest lake in northern Sulawesi province. The extent of 4,278 ha with a size of about 5 km x 11 km. The lake is surrounded by roads linking the provincial and city Tondano, East Tondano District, District Eris, District Kakas, District Remboken, and the District of South Tondano.

Hydroelectric Tonsea Lama
Located at an altitude of 684 m above sea level makes the air cool lake region. The lake is flanked by Lembean Mountains, Mount Kaweng, Tampusu Hill, Mount Makawembein and Mount Masarang, so the view of the lake and its surroundings are very beautiful. In most of the lake Tondano rice paddy fields are also very beautiful. In the Eris district there is a small island named fikri island with a size of about 100 mx 30 m.

Some
of the attractions around the lake Tondano is "Sumaru Endo" Remboken,
and Resort Travel Pine Hill (Tondano direction Toliang Oki). Tasuka rat
cave, From the banks of the lake Tondano (Toliang Oki). You can also go
up to the mountain Makawembein. From there you can enjoy the beautiful
scenery of the lake Tondano, Bitung town and beaches as well as the city
of Manado and beaches. Around the lake Tondano there are also several
restaurants that provide a dish of fish caught or cultivated in the
lake. Aside from being a producer of freshwater fish, Tondano lake water
is also used to generate electricity. The lake water flowing into the
river Tanggari, and along the river there are three hydropower
hydropower Tonsea Lama, hydropower Tanggari I and hydropower
Tanggari II .
How to Tondano
As shown in the map above, you can reach Lake Tondano from the city of Manado. There are two paths from Manado to Tondano is through the town of Tomohon or Air Madidi. Everything on asphalt roads with smooth conditions. We recommend that you go and return by a different route. This is because both the service has beautiful scenery and winding road so as not to be missed.
