MAIMUN PALACE, MEDAN

Maimun palace located in the city Medan, North Sumatra province, more precisely in the way Brig Katamso. Maimun palace became a tourist attraction because of old age, beauty also location in the city center close to many amenities such as star and budget hotels, restaurants, malls, shops and others. In addition, the location of the Palace of Maimonides is also within walking distance of the pool Raya Sri Deli and Mosque Raya Al-Mahsun Medan.

Maimun is a relic of the imperial palace Deli. The palace was built in 1888 by Sultan Deli at that time Mahmoed Sultan Al-Rashid Perkasa Alam. This can be seen in the inscription on the front entrance of the palace stairs.

Maimun palace is a two-storey building consists of a main building and the building on the left and right wing. Maimun palace has a wide area with a land area of approximately 120 mx 200 m, while for the building area of about 23 mx 72 m per floor (based on google earth).




The main building is a meeting room that was once used to receive guests or as a sultanate official ceremonies. Currently Deli sultanate had no power anymore and this palace in part as a museum and tourist attractions as well as open to the public.
Section pages inscriptions and buildings are broken cannon. Which according to legend is the embodiment of someone who turned into cannon to deal with attacks from Aceh. It is said that the cannon could catapult the bullet itself and become broken due to overheating.
