MERLION PARK, SINGAPURA

Singapore Merlion Park is located at the road junction Fulerton Road and Esplanade Road, on the edge of the sea or the land that juts into the bay, the city of Singapore.

Merlion is an icon of the city or the country of Singapore. Merlion is a mysterious creature who headed lion and body of fish. In terms of language, Mer means sea, and lion means lion. Fish body symbolizes that Singapore is renowned as an ancient place with a lot of fishermen. Lion head symbolizes the name of the city of Singapore as a lion.

Merlion Park is a park that is not too wide. In it there is a statue of the Merlion as high as approximately 8.6 m. From the mouth of the Merlion statue water gushed into the sea. Measuring 8.6 meters high and weighing 70 tonnes, the Merlion statue was built from mixture of cement by the late Singapore craftsman, Mr. Lim Nang Seng. Merlion Statue second smaller, measuring two meters high and weighs three tons, also built by Mr. Lim. The body was made from a mixture of cement, skin from porcelain plates and eyes from small red teacups.
